qStack
Rotate players across your courts without a clipboard. Share a code and everyone can follow the queue on their phone.
What everyone sees
Put the names in once. The board pairs everyone up, keeps the games even, and remembers who has played whom.
Log in to save your queues, your regulars, and everyone's records.
How a session runs
- 1
Start a board
Say how many courts you have and how people should be paired up. It takes about twenty seconds, and you can do it without an account.
- 2
Get everyone on it
Type the names in yourself, or share the code and let players add themselves. Everyone who opens it watches the same board, and it updates as games finish.
- 3
Play
The board picks the next four, you tap the winner when they come off, and the queue moves up. It remembers who has played with whom, so the same four do not spend the evening together.
Four ways to pair people up
Pick one when you start, and change it later if the room turns out different to what you expected.
- Round Robin
- Everyone takes turns in the order they arrived.
- Simplest option. Whoever got here first plays first.
- Balanced
- Everyone gets the same number of games, late or not.
- Best when people drift in through the afternoon.
- Winners / Losers
- Winners keep playing winners. Losers play losers.
- Competitive open play.
- Skill Separated
- Similar DUPR ratings play together, with even teams.
- Best when skill levels vary a lot.
Questions hosts ask
- Do players need an account?
- No. They scan the code or open the link and the board is there. Signing in only matters if you want your games kept on your record from one session to the next.
- What happens when somebody turns up late?
- They go to the back of the queue and the board works them into the next seats that suit. Balanced mode goes further and evens the game count out over the session, which is the one to pick when people drift in through the afternoon.
- Can two people play as a fixed pair?
- Yes. Lock them together and they stay on the same side of the net all session, while everyone else keeps rotating around them.
- Can somebody help me run it?
- Send them a co-host link. They get the same controls on their own phone, without your device and without your password.
- What if I close the tab?
- The board saves as it goes. Open it again on the same phone and it is where you left it. Sign in and it follows you to any device.
- Does it work for badminton and tennis?
- Yes. It is doubles rotation across however many courts you have, so any sport played four to a court works the same way. Skill separated is the exception, since it sorts on DUPR ratings.
